Death-Over-Drinks: A Die-A-Logue
Death-Over-Drinks: A Die-A-Logue is a FREE community event where all are welcome to talk about dying, death and end-of-life. As a society, we’re kinda rusty talking about the thing we ALL have in common (we ALL will die someday) and often don’t know where to go or who is willing to talk about it. It’s for that reason the Pre-Dead Social Club (PDSC) exists and created opportunities like Death-Over-Drinks so we can take strides at practicing, normalizing and exploring topics related to mortality together. “Death is an event. Dying is a process…with a fuzzy-at-best timeline,” shares death doula and Pre-Dead Social Club founder, Laura Cleminson.Death-Over-Drinks: A Die-A-Logue (PORTSMOUTH, NH)

Death Doula Virtual Afternoon Tea
Bring your own tea/coffee/comfort treat of choice to this virtual conversation. It’s an important time to have conversations about death as a part of life, and to support one another as we do. We will see where the conversational winds take us. Bring any questions or ideas you would like to share! This event is intended as a space for those who work/volunteer with the dying and their loved ones. Those who are curious about this work are welcome to attend, but if you would like to have bigger conversations about life, death, and dying, consider Death Cafes.

Walking tour: Victorian Funerary Traditions Tour–The Good Death
This popular tour explores the curious and elaborate funerary customs of the Victorian era, named for Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901. The Victorians had a fascination with death and the afterlife and put money aside and planned for “the good death” – the ideal death and dying experience, dictated by strict social conventions and an intricate set of rituals. You’ll learn about undertakers, at-home funerals, mourning periods and attire, death photography, and the difference between graverobbers and body snatchers (one was a felony, the other a misdemeanor!) Plus, you’ll see memorials and markers that make Forest Home one of the finest examples of a Victorian garden cemetery in the Upper Midwest.
